Philip Duffield Stong (January 27, 1899-April 26, 1957)
American author, journalist and Hollywood scenarist. He is best known for writing the novel "State Fair." As a student at Drake University in 1915, he majored in English and minored in German. After teaching at a school near Duluth, Stong returned to Drake to teach journalism and coach debate.
